AbsenTony

I noticed Tony hadn't been home in a few days. 1 or maybe 2 nights isn't all that unusual if he goes trainspotting in Basingstoke or Reading.
I knew he was scheduled to stay at his brother's in Birmingham soon, but I thought that was next week.
I went to his room and found a note on his door saying "Gone to Basingstoke trainspotting".
When he didn't turn up the following day, I was a bit more concerned. I sent him a text saying "Hi Tony. Still alive?".
Three days later when I was about to contact his sister and confess to having lost him, my phone rang, and there's Tony's unusually chirpy voice.
"Yeah, still alive. Yeah."
"Where are you? Have you gone to your brother's?"
"Yeah"
"You said you were going to leave a message."
"I did"
"That said you'd gone trainspotting in Basingstoke."
"Yeah, well I went there first."

Swizz roe

Tony came in from work.
Tony: Wanna cup o tea?
Me: Oh yeah please.

Sounds of activity in the kitchen, and he comes back with a plate and a container of cylindrical food. I was sort of expecting chicken balls from the Chinese, because it was that kind of container, but they weren't.

Me: What are they?
Tony: Swiss rolls.
Me: They're warm.
Tony: Yeah. Just made 'em didn't he.

I'm thinking...warm though? 🤔
Nice with a cuppa I suppose.

Took a bite.

Me: ....do you mean spring rolls?
Tony: Spring rolls! That's it.
